DART Resort Transit Offers Early Weekend Bus Service in Rehoboth

DART is kickstarting its Resort Transit service this season, providing weekend bus service three weeks early.  The new Route 202 begins operating on Saturdays and Sundays, May 7 – 22 every 30 minutes from 10 AM to 10 PM, between Rehoboth Park & Ride, Rehoboth Boardwalk, Tanger Outlets and Midway Shopping Center.  The early start-up will provide greater access to jobs, shopping, and entertainment until the daily Resort Transit begins operations on Thursday, May 26. When the daily service ends on September 11, Route 202 will start back up on weekends through September 25.  For the complete Route 202 schedule and bus stops, visit DartFirstState.com/Resort. Free weekend parking is available at the Rehoboth Park & Ride May 7 – 22.

“After receiving several requests and seeing the great demand, we’re happy to offer an early start-up of the bus service to help alleviate traffic congestion along this busy corridor, improving access to employment and providing a low-cost, hassle-free transportation solution for visitors and residents alike,” stated John Sisson, CEO of Delaware Transit Corporation.

On Thursday, May 26, the daily Resort Transit bus service begins operating seven bus routes serving Rehoboth Beach and the Boardwalk, Lewes, Long Neck, Dewey Beach, Ruddertowne, Bethany Beach, South Bethany Beach, Fenwick Island, and Ocean City, MD.  The service operates 7 days a week from 7 AM to 2 AM.  All buses are air-conditioned, ADA accessible and equipped with bike racks.

Visitors and residents are encouraged to use DART’s Park & Ride lot located just off of DE 1 on Shuttle Road, just north of the entrance to Rehoboth Avenue.  The parking rate is $8.00 per car per day and includes up to four (4) free daily pass.  For customers catching the bus at one of the many bus stops, the one-way cash fare is $2.00, or ride all day long with a daily pass for $4.20.

DART’s Route 305, Beach Connection, starting on Friday, May 27, provides a relaxing ride from Wilmington to Rehoboth Beach on Friday nights, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays through September 5.  Route 305 stops include the Wilmington Train Station, Christiana Mall, a new stop in the Middletown area at the Odessa Park & Ride on DE 299 just off DE 1, Scarborough Road Park & Ride in Dover, and the Rehoboth Park & Ride.  The Beach Connection is a comfortable motor coach offering 45 seats, 2 wheelchair positions, along with under coach storage compartments for beach gear and luggage.  The one-way cash fare is $13 from Wilmington, $10.40 from Middletown and $7.80 from Dover.  Riders are encouraged to buy a 4/5-Zone pass for $22, which can also be used on all the Resort Transit routes, once at the Park & Ride.
