DTC to Conduct Rider Origin – Destination Survey

Delaware Transit Corporation (DTC) announced today the initiation of the Rider Origin – Destination Survey.  The survey will request transit trip information from DART First State customers riding routes in Northern New Castle County.  The information collected will assist in transit service planning for the Wilmington, DE region.

Beginning October 15, 2013, surveyors will be riding select DART bus routes through November 22, 2013, asking customers for their trip details and ideas for improving transit services.  Beginning the week of October 28, the survey will also be available online at DartFirstState.com.   DART encourages all customers to participate as the trip information collected will serve as the basis for planning transit service in the Wilmington area.

In April 2013, the State Smart Transportation Initiative (SSTI), at the request of the Delaware Department of Transportation, completed a review of public transportation services in Wilmington.  The SSTI study proposed both short range implementation of transportation demand management and transit technology and long range implementation of a new transit circulation plan for downtown Wilmington.  The SSTI downtown transit circulation plan will improve bus alignment issues while supporting continued growth in DART service and ridership.  As a first step towards implementation of the new transit circulation plan, the SSTI study recommended the completion of transit origin-destination studies.

The Delaware Transit Corporation, a subsidiary of the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT), operates DART First State.  For information on all fixed route services statewide, please call 1-800-652-DART or visit www.DartFirstState.com.
