DART First State’s 16th Annual “Stuff the Bus” Food Drive Nets 11.4 Tons of Food For Delawareans In Need
DART First State announced today that its 16th annual “Stuff the Bus” Thanksgiving Food Drive collected 11.4 tons (22,769 pounds) of food. DART’s week-long food drive took place from November 12 to November 15 at Walmart in Milford, Acme in Dover, Acme in Fairfax Shopping Center, and Rodney Square in Wilmington. The Food Bank of Delaware will distribute the donated food through its more than 500 hunger relief partners to Delaware residents in need.
This year’s donations of non-perishable food filled two 30-foot buses and surpassed last year’s by more than 1,170 pounds. Donations were received from the general public, as well as businesses, schools, organizations, and state agencies throughout the entire State. To see photos from the event, visit DART’s Flickr page.
Again this year, DART partnered with WAFL 97.7 FM and WNCL 101.3 FM, which are part of the Delmarva Broadcasting Company. Thanks to staff and listeners of both radio stations, Stuff the Bus in Milford and Dover was a great success. Also, we want to thank the WJBR 99.5 FM staff and listeners who helped to fill the bus in Rodney Square.
The Delaware Transit Corporation, a subsidiary of the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT), operates DART First State. For information on fixed route bus services statewide, please call 1-800-652-DART or visit www.DartFirstState.com.
