Partner Spotlight: WILMAPCO

In honor of Earth Day we’d like to take this opportunity to recognize one of our leading community partners, The Wilmington Area Planning Council (WILMAPCO), which has been a community partner of RideShare Delaware since 2010.

WILMAPCO is the regional planning organization for New Castle County Delaware and Cecil County Maryland. Federally appointed, but able to receive funds from local, state, and federal sources, WILMAPCO seeks to create dialogue between implementing agencies and the public to ensure the public’s voice is heard during the planning process. WILMAPCO specifically works with transportation agencies throughout their service area to make sure transportation dollars are wisely spent to meet the transportation needs of employers and citizens. Because of this their projects and programs can range in size scope and vary from bus routes, greenways, bike paths, and even full-on roads.

RideShare Delaware works with WILMAPCO on outreach initiatives and programs that advance our mutually shared goals of clean commuting and improving the functionality of our local road network. This includes partnering on events, cross promoting our programs, and serving as a resource for each other for informational networking purposes. RideShare Delaware is also a part of WILMAPCO’s Air Quality Partnership, where we work together to educate the public on ways to improve air quality throughout the State.

We applaud WILMAPCO’s continual commitment to creating a cleaner and greener future for the citizens and employers we serve, and look forward to working with them over the years to come.
