Cecil Transit announced the introduction of their new bus service, Elkton-Newark Connection Route #4, linking individuals from Elkton, Maryland to Newark and Glasgow, Delaware.
This service is similar to the previously operated DART Route 65, and is the result of a partnership between Cecil County Government, Delaware Transit Corporation and Maryland Transit Administration. The new service, reconfigured as a circular route will be operated by Cecil Transit.
Service begins on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, running 8 loops per weekday from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. One-way fares are $2.00 for the general public; $1.00 for seniors and persons with disabilities.
Riders can connect with DART Routes 40, 41, 42 and 46 at the Peoples Plaza Park & Ride. Connections to Routes 6, 33, 34, 39, 46 and 55 can be made in Newark at the Transit Hub, and to Routes 16, 33, 39 and 46 at the 896 & 4 Park & Ride. In addition, riders can connect at the Newark Train Station to SEPTA’s Wilmington/Newark line with service to center city Philadelphia.
This expansion will provide residents of Cecil County, Maryland and New Castle County, Delaware access to employment, education and train service, while supporting economic growth in both Delaware and Maryland.
